( Description : A jungle animal story about a hungry lion who threatens the animals of the forest, until a brave honey badger brings them together to face the danger and protect their friends.)

In the vast forest, there was a notorious lion who hunted every day. It seemed like his hunger would not be satisfied with any amount of food. Because of this, every animal in the jungle was scared of this particular lion.

One day, as usual, the lion went on to hunt. About 100 meters away, the lion saw a rabbit eating grass. The lion ran at the speed of sound, chasing the rabbit, and finally caught it. He said loudly, “You thought you could outrun me?” He laughed. “Whatever, today you will be my food.” After catching the rabbit, the lion walked towards his den.

A group of rabbits far away from the place saw the lion catching the rabbit. One of the rabbits went to the side of the group and said, “I told him not to go far away from us, but as a youngling, he wanted to explore. See, this is what happens when they don’t hear the words of others.”

Another one of the rabbits came forward and tapped his shoulder and said, “Everything is going to be alright.”

That rabbit turned towards the other group of rabbits and said, “Whatever has happened, let us forget that gruesome memory. Let’s go and inform our friends about this and see what happens next.”

With these words, the elder rabbit and his group went to their friends.

In the friends’ group, the buffalo said, “You see that elder rabbit took all his group for food even after knowing about the lion.”

“In one way or the other, we all need food to survive. If he has taken steps, it’s because he wants them to grow well and not die out when they are young. Let’s see what happens,” said the honey badger.

The buffalo sighed at this. While this was going on, the deer, who was sleeping under the tree, called everyone and said, “Look, there. The elder rabbit is coming with his group.”

Every friend looked in the direction.

The buffalo, who was proud of his earlier words, spoke, “Didn’t I tell you something bad would happen? And it has happened.”

“Whatever, let’s hear what they have to say,” said the honey badger.

They all came to the place where their friends were resting: Honey Badger, Wild Buffalo, Mountain Goat, and Deer.

The elder rabbit came forward out of the rabbit group and spoke while holding his tears. “Just a few minutes back, one of our rabbits was caught by a lion, and he took that rabbit to eat. Yesterday, it was a deer which he hunted. How much longer do we need to go through this pain where our friends are getting caught in the jaws of the lion? He is catching us every single day. If it happens repeatedly, we will lose our brethren and other animals in a fraction of days.”

Everyone in the group sitting under the tree looked at each other in a sorry state and repeatedly said, “What the elder rabbit is saying is correct. Sooner or later, it will happen. We need to do something about the lion.”

One of the friends, the honey badger, came forward and consoled the rabbit for his loss. He promised he would do something about the lion.

Honey Badger looked at everyone one last time and said, “I will be looking for allies. Once I get the allies, we will take down the lion, and until that time, no one is allowed to take any other steps. Until I return.”

By saying these words, Honey Badger went to look for allies.

Honey Badger went to his friend Leopard. Leopard, who saw Honey Badger coming towards him, welcomed him and asked, “What’s the purpose of your visit?”

Honey Badger asked Leopard, “Well, it’s complicated as usual. It’s about the lion. He is catching down our friends for food. If this insists on going on, one day we all will be done,” Honey Badger replied to Leopard in a sorry state.

“So what have you decided to do? If it comes to me, I will somehow handle it,” said the leopard to Honey Badger.

“I have decided to take down the lion,” said Honey Badger.

Leopard laughed and asked, “Taking down the lion? You must be crazy to even think about this.”

Honey Badger came forward to Leopard, looked him in the eyes, and asked, “That’s why I came here to ask for your help to take down the lion. Will you help me?”

Leopard sighed at his words. “My apologies. It would be great, but I can’t do anything regarding this one because I don’t want to go against the lion at this time, but I wish you good luck.”

With these words, Leopard rejected allying with the badger.

“No need for apologies. Thank you,” said Honey Badger.

With these words, Honey Badger left Leopard’s place.

Next, Honey Badger went to ask the elephant for help. The elephant, who saw Honey Badger coming towards him, welcomed him and asked, “What’s the purpose of coming here to see me?”

Honey Badger told everything he had told Leopard and asked for his help.

“Ohh, look who’s asking for help to take down the lion. Brave but stupid decision. I can’t lend you my strength, as I have a lot more to look out for with my family, but I wish you luck, though.”

With this, Elephant also rejected allying with the badger.

Like this, Honey Badger visited multiple animals seeking help, but all of them rejected the offer. With no choice, Honey Badger returned to the group with no allies.

Mountain Goat, who saw Honey Badger coming back, asked in a loud voice, “What about the allies? Did you get anyone to take down the lion?”

Honey Badger kept his head down and said, “No,” and explained everything to his friends.

The friends who heard Honey Badger’s situation panicked and looked at each other, asking, “What now? Like this, we will be done.”

Honey Badger calmed them and told everyone, “We can take down the lion if you guys are okay with my plan, even without allies. But I need cooperation from all of you. You guys will be helping me in defeating the lion. I don’t need the answer right now. Go to your herd and say what I have said. After that, you can tell me your decision. You will have three days from now.”

Without any choice, everyone went on their ways to their herds.

The elder rabbit went to their colony and explained what Honey Badger had told him. The other rabbits looked at each other, and without any second thought, they accepted to help Honey Badger.

The same situation went on with the other herds, and they all accepted to help Honey Badger.

After three days, a meeting was held again, and every friend gathered to discuss the plan and their decision on taking down the lion. Everyone gathered there, and they all accepted to help Honey Badger take down the lion.

For their decision, Honey Badger showed respect and said, “Thank you for your acceptance. We are all into it together. As the weak ones, we need to move forward strategically. Without any delays, I will start to explain the plan.”

Honey Badger started to explain the plan.

“The plan which I will tell includes everyone participating. There may be a chance that one or the other animal can get hurt, but if we can survive, we can live our life to the full extent.

“This plan will be first executed by the rabbits.”

Honey Badger turned towards them and maintained eye contact.

“You guys will be grazing the grass as usual in the morning, but this time you will be a bit alert and keep the weaker ones in the middle so the lion can’t identify the weaker ones.

“Once the lion sees a group of rabbits eating grass, it will start to chase you guys to catch you. But make sure you guys tease the lion while running so no one can get captured. Make sure you run till you see the dense forest and scatter along the way. So basically, you will be acting as bait to lure the lion to the dense forest.

“Once the lion falls for the trap, it will be handled by the deer, as the deer is second in this plan.”

Honey Badger turned towards the deer and said, “As you are good at evading obstacles, you move through the dense forest and act as bait till you reach the mountains. The lion will be chasing you once this second plan gets executed. The lion will be tired enough to not run anymore. That’s where the mountain goat comes to execute the third plan.”

Honey Badger turned towards Mountain Goat and started explaining.

“Yes, of course, there is a chance it will not work out, but it’s only a 20% chance it will go back because of all this chasing and tiredness. It sure is hungry enough to not go back because of easy prey like a mountain goat. Why would the lion let it go?”

“Once the lion gets to the top of the mountain, me, Honey Badger, and the Wild Buffalos will execute the final plan, which is to fight it and defeat the lion.”

Like this, Honey Badger laid out the plan and asked everyone, “Are you guys okay with the plan? If not, no worries. Everyone will go back to their old days and live in the fear of becoming food on the plate for the lion.”

Everyone in the meeting looked at each other and, without any problem, accepted the plan.

The next morning, the plan was executed. Everyone executed their part of the plan, and without any problem, the plan worked perfectly.

At the end, the five friends and their herds’ combined strength defeated the lion.

And thereafter, they lived their life to the full extent.
